If you haven’t yet experienced VR Animation then here is your chance. Allow us to introduce you to Google Spotlight Series, which is storytelling for VR. Google Spotlight is a group of artists and technologists who are making innovative, immersive stories for mobile 360 and mobile VR. You’re sure to enjoy the experience – look, listen, explore at https://atap.google.com/spotlight-stories/.
While some VR Animations require Oculus headset or an app from Google Play or App Store to experience a fully immersive experience others can be enjoyed on YouTube. As an example, watch “Pearl”, which was a 2017 Oscar-nominated “Best Animated Short Film”. Look for the 4-directional controller in the upper left corner of the video itself. The controller will allow you to pan and tilt your point-of-view 360° on any axis throughout the entire animation.
Set inside their home, a beloved hatchback, “Pearl” follows a girl and her dad as they crisscross the country chasing their dreams. It’s a story about the gifts we hand down and their power to carry love. And finding grace in the unlikeliest of places. “Pear” also received the Ub IWerks Award for Technical Advancement in the Art of Animation.
